I have two of lee's large cricket keepers. Would that be large enough for 250 3/8 to 1/2 inch crickets? I'd rather get 500 all together and put 250 in each keeper. Decisions, decisions. Heh.

As with all things, we highly recommend variety. The commercial mixes are cheap, formulated for crickets, and have a variety of ingredients. Here are the ones we carry: http://www.joshsfrogs.com/catalog/category_info/89_35_106/crickets-cricket-care-cricket-care-products

I'm considering starting a weekly shipment of crickets from my local pet shop... but I'm wondering hat is your recommended food to gutload crickets with?

I've read a lot of different things... heard mixed reviews of each suggestion.
