Black Soldier Fly Larvae, large (50 count)

Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae are a great feeder for a wide variety of reptiles, amphibians, birds, and invertebrates. High in calcium, black soldier fly larvae are also known in the trade as Phoenix Worms, ReptiWorms, and CalciWorms. Each container of Black Soldier Fly Larvae - 50 count Large will contain at least 50 soldier fly larvae ready to feed out as soon as they arrive. Large Black Soldier Fly Larvae measure approximately 1/2" - 3/4", and make perfect feeders.

How to Feed: Feed soldier fly larvae with tongs, or in a dish. Be careful not to allow solder fly larvae to escape the dish - the larvae will burrow and pupate into adult flies. After they pupate, the larvae emerge as adult black soldier flies, which resemble small wasps. Even though they look intimidating, black soldier flies are harmless. Once the worms began to pupate (if they're not eaten by them), they'll turn black. At this stage, the larvae contain a LOT of calcium, and should be quickly fed to your pets.

How to Store: Soldier Fly Larvae can be kept at room temperature, but keeping them at 50-55F will keep them in the larval stage much longer. Remember, black soldier fly larvae can still be fed out after they pupate.

Hormworms (25ct Small) -

How to Feed: Each of the pods contained in this product have a healthy gutloading food for hornworms, as well as 25 (generally 28-30) small, fat, healthy hornworms, ready to be fed to your pets. You can also allow the worms to continue to grow. With the food present, they will reach 1.5" long. Feed via tongs, or in a bowl.

How to Store: Store the pod upside down, with the food at the top. This way, the hornworms will climb up to eat, and their waste will fall to the 'bottom' of the container for easy cleanup. Make sure to place them on a wire rack or something similar, so that they receive proper ventilation. Hornworms will grow the fastest when kept in the low 80s F, but can be kept as low as the mid 50s F to slow growth. Hornworms can also be kept in the frige (at 45F) for 2 days, then removed for one day, to slow growth.

Nutrtition Information: Hornworms are a fantastic feeder for your reptile and amphibian pets. Hornworms are high in calcium (47mg/100g) and low in fat (3%). Hornworms also have a soft exoskeleton, making eating and digestion easy!

Waxworms (50ct) -

How to Feed: Feed waxworms as a treat to your pets. Waxworms are very high in fat and make great treats, but should not be used as a staple diet. Sift waxworms from their bedding and feed them to your pet using feeding tongs or a bowl.

How to Store: When Josh's Frogs ships waxworms they are already stored on aspen bedding without food - exactly how you want to keep them. Keep waxworms in the fridge to prolong their lifespan. As waxworms go bad, they will become dark in color and eventually turn black and spoil. Discard any black waxworms. Under ideal conditions, waxworms should keep for several weeks.
