Ficus elastica ‘Tineke Rubber Plant’ is a newer variety of one of the more commonly kept varieties, Ficus elastica ‘Burgundy Rubber Plant’. In its natural habitat, this tree can grow to about 100 feet tall, however, indoors it is commonly kept at a much more manageable height of around 1-8 feet tall. Since this plant is slow growing, it can be kept as a long term house tree. It will grow faster and larger in bigger pots, and smaller and slower in smaller pots. Its thick, rubbery leaves with a white variegated pattern and red/pink undertones can get 8-12” long and 4” wide. It should be placed in bright lighting, which will enhance the reddish color tones. It is very easy to care for and will do fine if it is only watered when the soil becomes dry. This plant is considered to be top of the list for air purifying!

If purchased very small, such as the size Josh’s Frogs sells them at, they can be used in container and terrarium gardening. Keep in mind, however, that this has potential to grow into a very large tree and will eventually need to be kept as a house plant.
Josh's Frogs offers a wide variety of glass terrariums, container garden soils, drainage layers and other supplies for all of your indoor gardening needs.
At the small size that Josh’s Frogs sells it, this plant has proven to do great in vivariums and will generally be able to be kept in one for quite a while before it needs to be taken out and transplanted into a pot to be kept as a houseplant.
As good practice, Josh's Frogs recommends washing all plants thoroughly removing as much soil as possible with dechlorinated water before placing them in their final home. Live plants from Josh's Frogs are treated only with products that are OMRI Listed© for use in organic production. Live plants may vary in color, size and appearance.
ALL PLANTS ARE SHIPPED IN POTS WITH SOIL OR OTHER MEDIA UNLESS IT IS DEEMED NECESSARY TO SHIP BARE ROOT
