Drosophila hydei are larger (about 1/8") than Drosophila melanogaster (1/16"). Both fruit flies are an ideal food for poison dart frogs, fish, praying mantis, young frogs and toads, and other reptiles, amphibians, or captive animals that require small foods. I had been having trouble with cultures purchased from my local pet store, so I purchased some from here. They are awesome!
