Drosophila hydei are larger (about 1/8") than Drosophila melanogaster, and are an ideal food for poison dart frogs, fish, praying mantis, young frogs and toads, and other reptiles, amphibians, or captive animals that require small foods. 'Golden hydei are an albino form of hydei, and besides their lighter coloration, act exactly like normal Drosophila hydei. We had an early (unexpected) batch of mantids arrive in February. I needed flies and fast... I called Josh and they shipped the flies the same day. There were about 50 live flies ready-to-eat in the case and a squirming mass of pupae in the media. The mantids pounced on the flies and everything turned out great.

I love these and highly recomend them. they come producing so if your ever out of flies and media to make your own you can just buy some. They last for a amazingly long time i still have my first one i bought and its been about a month and a half. These cultures produce like crazy and never fail me.
