More properly known as Selaginella uncinata, peacock spikemoss is a great iridescent ground cover. It is a very popular choice for vivarium use. Peacock spikemoss forms a low growing mat which will root prolificly as it spreads. Peacock spikemoss is also hardy outdoors up to about zone 6 (maybe zone 5), and looks great in rock gardens with bright metallic blue foliage in the summer and copper/bronze color in the fall.

All of our plants are shipped bare-root to lower the shipping cost. Therefore, you will either need to plant your plants in your terrarium when they arrive or be prepared to pot them. Plastic or Styrofoam cups with a hole in the bottom for drainage make great temporary pots.

Plants are shipped from the greenhouse and separate from all other items purchased. Plants are shipped Monday-Wednesday and Saturdays. Plant Orders must be received by 8:00 PM EST in order to ship the next shipping day. Plant shipments during extreme weather are only guaranteed when someone is present to receive the package on the first delivery attempt. All plant shipments will not ship if the low temperature dips below 20 degrees in Stockbridge, MI or the destination city.

Quality

Great looking selaginella, has a nice bluish green tint. I have four types of selaginella, and this one stands out. Came in very healthy and perked up immediately after planting. Another great plant from Josh's Frogs! (Posted on 5/15/12)
