	I used to make my own fruit fly cultures and put cardboard folded inside the cups, i then discovered excelsior. This stuff works great and increases the surface space for the fruit flies. It doesnt mold like cardboard does somtimes and it just works amazing. You can have hundreds of fruit flies in your containers with the added surface area that excelsior gives you.
