About This Product

Air plants, Tillandsias, have made their way into the homes and hearts of many hobbyists and casual gardeners. These fascinating plants do not require soil to grow, instead, they can be found growing in the nooks of tropical trees throughout Southeast Mexico and the vast majority of Central America. In the home, they can grow potted in sphagnum moss or simply be left bare root.

This listing is for Three (3) Tillandsia ‘Air Plants’ between 1-3” in length. Although we cannot guarantee any specific species of Tillandsia we strive to include an assortment of varieties in each order. 



Air Plant Care Requirements: 

 

Species Name: Tillandsia spp.

Common Names: Air Plant, Tilly, Sky Plant 

Temperature requirement: Above 50°F

Humidity: Dry (0-30%)   Moderate (30-70%)   Humid (70-100%)

Watering frequency: Water once every 1-2 weeks by soaking the leaves in water for approximately 15 minutes. Leave on a towel to dry before returning it to its designated spot. Misting between watering is recommended in low humidity areas. 

Lighting:  Full Shade     Partial Shade      Full Sun

Soil type: Can be ‘rooted’ to secure its place in sphagnum moss or coarse soil. Nutrient uptake is done through the leaves. 

Growth rate: Slow - Moderate 

Height:1-3” 

Origin: Southeast Mexico and the vast majority of Central America

Regional locality: Grows in a variety of habitats were it grows epiphytically on trees

USDA Hardiness Zone: 9-12

As a good practice, Josh's Frogs recommends washing all plants thoroughly with dechlorinated water before placing them in their final home. Live plants may vary in color, size, and appearance.

Tillandsias are shipped bare root. Without pots or soil.
