Black Soldier Fly Larvae (250 Count - Small)-

Quantity Available: 6

Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae are a great feeder for a wide variety of reptiles, amphibians, birds, and invertebrates. High in calcium, black soldier fly larvae are also known in the trade as Phoenix Worms, ReptiWorms, and CalciWorms. Each container of Black Soldier Fly Larvae - 250 count Small will contain at least 250 soldier fly larvae ready to feed out as soon as they arrive. Small Black Soldier Fly Larvae measure approximately 1/4", and make perfect feeders for bearded dragons, chameleons, leopard geckos, fat tail geckos, and many insectivorous invertebrates.

How to Feed:

Feed soldier fly larvae with tongs, or in a dish. Be careful not to allow solder fly larvae to escape the dish - the larvae will burrow and pupate into adult flies. After they pupate, the larvae emerge as adult black soldier flies, which resemble small wasps. Even though they look intimidating, black soldier flies are harmless. Once the worms began to pupate (if they're not eaten by them), they'll turn black. At this stage, the larvae contain a LOT of calcium, and should be quickly fed to your pets.

How to Store:

Soldier Fly Larvae can be kept at room temperature, but keeping them at 50-55F will keep them in the larval stage much longer. Remember, black soldier fly larvae can still be fed out after they pupate. Adult flies can also be fed out - chameleons in particular seem to love these!

Early arrival, perfect shape, happy beardie Review by Jacqueline
I ordered these through Amazon when I noticed the price and availability difference from Phoenix Worms. They arrived sooner than Amazon predicted, they were all alive and wriggling, and my beardie loves them! Will most definitely be continuing this purchase and looking into other insect offered! Very attractive to spadefoot toadlets Review by Carol
My collection of 250 size small soldier fly larvae included enough size variety to please the range of sizes of my spadefoot toadlets. My smaller, .5 g toadlets were able to successfully capture and swallow the smaller maggots and the my larger .7g toadlets could manage the maggots at the larger end of the spectrum. Having a range of sizes was perfect for my needs! (Posted on 7/4/2017)
All alive and a great price Review by WENDY
I ordered the 250 ct size small and all were alive. The price was great compared to what vendors wanted at our local reptile show and I haven't found them anywhere else locally. Very pleased. (Posted on 5/18/2017)
