LIVE ARRIVAL GUARANTEED in temperatures 0F to 85F. Winter is here - please check your temps before ordering!

Keep Bean Beetle Cultures in temperatures between 75°F and 85°F. Keep at a humidity level around 50%.

Bean beetles feed on black eye peas, that are high in protein, fiber, iron, calcium and even contain some vitamin A.They make great snacks for dart frogs and other herps that appreciate smaller prey. Each culture will produce hundreds of beetles over several weeks.

How do I collect bean beetles from the culture? Bean beetles like to climb. Insert a piece of paper towel, coffee filter, or cardboard tube in the culture. Once it is covered with beetles, remove it and shake the beetles off into a feeding cup.

Why are there no beetles visible in the culture? We ship the cultures after the first generation of adult beetles have died off and eggs have been laid on the beans. New beetles will hatch out within 2 weeks, if not sooner.

How long will the bean beetle culture last? Each bean beetle culture will produce beetles for several weeks after you receive it.

Where can I have bean beetles shipped to?
Bean beetles are considered a crop pest in the United States, and are regulated by the USDA. Josh's Frogs has the proper permits in place to ship bean beetles to most states. We cannot ship bean beetles to Utah and Hawaii.

Great! Review by Alyssia
I bought these guys for my mantids. They arrived in a few days, alive and whole! They're super easy to culture, no smell, and reproduce fast. The mantids love them! (Posted on 11/8/2018)
Bean Beetle review Review by Jerrod
I ordered a cup of bean beetles and all arrived healthy and alive. Good job (Posted on 9/4/2017)
Booming culture Review by Sonia
Came with 5 adults, but about a month later - my house is a bit cold - beetles boomed. Too bad my azureus frogs don't seem to like these much (too big, I think). Regardless, culture was healthy and came with many adzuki beans covered in eggs. (Posted on 8/15/2017)
Nice Snack Review by Philip
The frogs seem to love the beatles. They eat them right up! I had a problem when I went to add the supplements in them because I dump a bunch of beans too but I learned that the beatles will stick to the egg craft if you dump out the beans that are attached. ;) (Posted on 5/31/2017)
Bean Beatles Review by Lindsey
They arrived well packed and all were alive in excellent condition. There was also more beatles than expected, that's saying something considering their low price. (Posted on 3/22/2017)
Lots of beetles!! Review by CindyL
I bought 2 cultures. I can't believe how many beetles I got from these cultures. I have 9 dart frog eating them and still gave a bunch to a friend with frogs. Great snack and extra food if you're in a pinch. (Posted on 10/4/2016)
Got them accidentally, but they are great! Review by Lucia
I accidentally got a culture of these little buggers when I ordered rice flour beetles (which I got for free from Josh's Frogs once we noticed the mixup). At first I did not really want to use them, seeing how well they climb. I was worried they might get everywhere. I would still not drop a handful in the terrarium, but I hand-fed a few of the bugs to my lizard today and he loves them. Plus, they are easy to keep. So I really have to thank Josh's Frogs for the beetle mixup! (Posted on 12/12/2015)
Super easy to culture and loved by my dart frogs! Review by Roger
I was waiting for my fruit fly culture to boom and small food was impossible to come by locally. I called Josh's frogs and one of your staff people suggested bean beetles. She knew my dilemma and had another employee check to make sure I received a culture that had beetles starting to hatch. The frogs loved them! I was able to get by with no worries until my flies hatched. I will be ordering more cultures for my growing collection of dart frogs. (Posted on 11/19/2015)
These are probably some of the coolest feeder insects I've received, yet. I enjoy watching them almost as much as the frogs I feed them too. LoL. Nice and easy feeder insect to keep. (Posted on 5/26/2015)
