Tons of fruit flies

Reviewed on June 26, 2026.

Overall this is a great fruit fly culture, I ordered it producing and it was teeming with live, juicy fruit flies for my spiders! My one complaint is that they aren't truly flightless, quite a few of them are capable of flight so I think genetics are getting mixed up in the breeding stock. It happens over time if some of them regain their ability to fly, and I'm sure it's a nightmare to weed out. It can mostly be handled by refrigerating them for about 10 minutes before feeding, they just warm back up quickly so I have to move fast. I've been ordering house flies from Josh's Frogs for years since they're one of the only suppliers out there with healthy feeder house flies. I can usually get FFs locally but not this month. I'm grateful I was able to get these when I needed them!

Awesome!

I am very happy with my order which had many flies and larva and were very active. Very surprising since the postal driver stuck it in my mailbox when it was 30 degrees out and I did not realize until hours later. So many flies!!!!
