Rhaphidophora pachyphylla - Shingle Plant is a member of the Araceae family and can be found in the rain forests of New Guinea. The leaves on this climbing vine are solid green in color and a little thicker than some other shingle plants. This plant is considered to be hemiephiphytic which means it spends part of its life with roots on the forest floor and part in the canopy. Rhaphidophora pachyphylla prefers a humid environment and partial to full shade. This plant is not easy to find for sale and we are proud here at Josh’s Frogs to be able to offer these to our customers.

Container Gardens/Terrariums/Houseplant:

Rhaphidophora pachyphylla is a great plant for a terrarium or container as it thrives in a warm and humid environment. It is not recommended to grow as a houseplant due to the high humidity needs of the plant.

Vivariums/Animal Terrariums:

Rhaphidophora pachyphylla is a great plant for a vivarium/terrarium. It thrives in a warm and humid environment. As it grows it will attach to the background and other structures that may be in the viv, and will slowly cover it in a lush, green carpet. Prefers partial to full shade.

As good practice, Josh's Frogs recommends washing all plants thoroughly removing as much soil as possible with dechlorinated water before placing them in their final home. Plants from Josh’s Frogs are specifically grown to be safe for use with animals. Live plants may vary in color, size and appearance.
